I've been coming to this gym for about a year now and I am so glad I moved from the corporate gym to a small private owned one. You don't get your typical meatheads and I feel comfortable walking into Superior. I've worked closely with Dustin and his trainers and I'm feeling so much better about myself. Dustin is by far one of the best trainer's I have worked with. He motivates me and pushes me to my limits. He's like a therapist and a trainer all in one. The gym is always clean and they offer a bunch of new equipment I have never seen before! It's not your typical gym. I highly recommend it.

Dustin Alliano is a 9th generation Santa Barbara local. He began working in the fitness industry February 2008, though he has been active in fitness since he was eight years old. He received his degree in personal training from the National Personal Training Institute in Orlando, Florida, and was awarded the “best motivational trainer” of his graduating class. Under the mentorship of Robin Walker, owner of Core Fitness Training in Santa Barbara, Ca. Dustin realized his gift and talent for connecting with people and going above and beyond the typical role of a trainer by truly making a difference in people’s lives. In less than two years time, he had gone from working at Core Fitness Training to training a large number of clientele out of his own single car garage (which he had built into a small gym). Soon after his transition to training out of his home, he was fortunate to find the perfect space where he could start his own gym. This is where the vision of Superior Fitness Center began to take shape.

Dustin trains a wide variety of clientele ranging from seniors to young athletes. He has recently become devoted to the cause of making a difference in the lives of young adults and pre-teens suffering from extreme social anxiety and severe depression by rebuilding their self-confidence and providing them with a positive and nurturing atmosphere when they train with him. His approach to fitness is not the typical narrow mind set of many larger gyms, which focus purely on the physical body. Dustin uses a more holistic approach to overall health and wellness. His gym not only houses a wide variety of workout equipment, a lot of which is unique even to the fitness realm (400-700lb tractor tires used for flipping etc…), but it also contains a meditation room where his clients can choose to relax, center, and rejuvenate themselves after their workouts. It is no mere coincidence that Superior Fitness has many inspirational and motivational quotes visible all around the facility. Their presence reflects Dustin’s goal as a trainer: to motivate and inspire people to step out of their comfort zone, believe in themselves, and develop the courage, faith and persistence needed to reach their full potential. After a session with Dustin you will not only leave feeling like you got a great workout but you will feel better about yourself as a whole.

Dustin is constantly researching, testing, and incorporating new training techniques from the personal training realm at Superior Fitness because he understands the importance of staying abreast of the facts in an industry which is constantly evolving. He is excellent at tailoring fitness programs specifically to accommodate a person’s needs and physical ability. His training has helped people recover from strokes, reduce back pain, rebuild strength, and has also inspired kids who generally never leave the house, to do so and even discover new hobbies such as surfing, hiking and rock climbing; many high school athletes that he has trained have gone on to play for college teams.

In his free time Dustin enjoys going on hikes, reading, watching classic films, going out for a nice dinner and spending time with his daughter, Alexanderia Leigh.

Hello, My name is Alex and I have been working as a Superior Fitness trainer since March of 2010 and I was named Director of Operations in June of 2013. My journey to becoming a fitness professional materialized rather organically. Since the age of 4, I have always been physically active. My parents encouraged me to play a wide variety of sports like basketball, soccer, baseball and karate. By the time I was 10, I had earned a second-degree black belt in Korean Karate and I was also on the Goleta All-Star Basketball team. It wasn't until I reached my mid-twenties that I got serious about exercise & health.

I began exercising and training with a friend who persuaded me to become a member of Gold's gym. It was one of the best decisions of my life and I instantly became addicted to exercise. I quickly wanted to learn more about living a strong & healthy lifestyle. Through International Sports Science Association (ISSA), I have become certified as a Fitness Trainer, Specialist in Fitness Nutrition, and Specialist in Exercise Therapy. My eagerness to gain knowledge about the fitness industry has not waivered. I am constantly engaging in new methods of training modalities like Pilates, Indoor Rock Climbing, Outdoor Training, Running, Bicycling, Agility and Stretching. By experimenting with different styles and practices, I am motivated to share with all my clients what I have learned and experienced, so that I can keep my workouts fresh, up to date and challenging.

My goal as a Fitness professional is to improve the quality of life for people who want to change their lifestyle habits, but are unsure where to begin. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals whether it is losing body fat and building lean muscle, proper nutrition, rehabilitation training, sports specific training or strength training. A Carpinteria local, Jon has been in the training industry since 2008 before joining the Superior Fitness team in October of 2014. The previous years were spent at Spectrum Athletic Clubs where he was named 2013 and 2014 Spectrum Trainer of the Year.

            First becoming interested in the strength training while playing football and competing in track and field at Carpinteria High School. Since then, Jon has gone to graduate from CSU-Northridge with a degree in Kinesiology as well as earning his NASM-PES certification. In 2012, looking to improve his training knowledge Jon passed the RKC, Russian Kettlebell Challenge, and became a certified kettlebell instructor. 

            Jon has also been involved with Santa Barbara county youth athletics since 2002. While attending Santa Barbara City College, he was an assistant football coach and track and field strength coach at Carpinteria High School from 2002-2005. After completing his degree, Jon was the athletic director and physical education coach at Santa Barbara Christian School from 2008-2012. 
Jon is entering his second season as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Dos Pueblos Football team and also works with the San Marcos baseball team.

Hello!
I was born and raised in the local San Andres community of Santa Barbara, CA.
I remember being just another kid walking up and down San Andres street with my junk food/ drinks like I see most kids doing today. I can honestly say, I was never really active growing up and didn't care for physical exercise. I was not born into that fitness life style, but I was lucky enough to have known people in my life growing up that have made a huge impact on me and pushed me outside of my comfort zone. People like my football coaches from Santa Barbara High School, where I played three years of high school sports. I immediately fell in love with the demand and disciplined that sports required from me. I not only learned how to exercise properly & learned different exercise techniques, but I felt as if it had changed my character for the better. It also helped me to change my entire outlook on discipline, perseverance, and the will to compete. I completely changed my mentality from who I once was growing up into an athletic, driven and disciplined boy.

After high school I tried solo sports such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Boxing. I not only discovered new loves for these different sports, but at the time, I noticed the work, and effort I had to put forth, which led me onto a more focused path of pure fitness and physical exercise. I joined Superior Fitness Center as a client looking for a new gym to call my own and try out things. I had never done anything like this before and I had the chance to experienced my own personal trainer giving me tips and advice on how to properly exercise and keep me motivated. So, I had met the mad scientist behind it all and I began to train under Dustin Alliano. I remember giving it my all during those crazy insane circuits created by Dustin. He helped me completely steer my mind on a path of loving physical fitness, not to be shredded or have bigger muscles, but by appreciating the results I was getting and showing me how creative one can be as a trainer. Dustin pushed people to new limits they didn't know they had and most importantly Dustin influenced people to be happier in their own bodies.

Along the way through this journey I had learned many different types and forms of physical exercise, from strength and resistance training, cardiovascular and muscle endurance, circuit training, to Agility and footwork movement patterns. I earned a Fitness Instructor certification under the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). I am also currently attending Santa Barbara City College by staying educated in the subject of kinesiology: Exercise Science. I am still constantly seeking for new ways to challenge myself using different and new creative methods and styles of training. If I had to choose my favorite style of training I would have to go with Cardio Boxing. Getting in shape and learning how to kick butt, how is that not fun?

I wish to help and motivate people to reach their fitness and life goals. All ages are welcome, it’s never too late to begin a change as big as this one. I been going to this gym for about a month and I love it so much because everyone is willing to help you work out in all different ways. Dustin is a very great guy and willing to help you at any time, great staff, great gym people. I really recommend it to anyone willing to work out in a small private gym which is amazing.
